Plants, Seeds, Bulbs
With so many plants to choose from, getting a flower garden started can be a confusing task. Even when you have an established garden, there is always a new plant you just have to have and then you have to decide where you're going to put it!! For the person just starting out, you might want to start with a few favorite perennials and perennial bulbs (plants that come back every year) spaced into locations you know you'll want them to stay in. Seeds and annuals (ones that have to be replanted every year) can be used around the perennials. A combination of both types will give a varied show all summer and the annuals allow you to change the color scheme from year to year. Of course, you'll want to add more perennials to your collection every year - and that is when you realize that you are hooked on gardening and you start to tear up more of your lawn for more flower gardens!
